What is the Nusuk Platform and how do I use it for Hajj registration?

Nusuk is the official digital platform launched by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. It allows international pilgrims to:

  1. Browse and book approved Hajj packages
  2. Submit required documents (passport, photo, vaccination proof)
  3. Track application status and receive updates

To register:

  1. Visit nusuk.sa
  2. Create an account using your passport details
  3. Choose a package from licensed Hajj operators
  4. Complete payment and await confirmation

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months and your vaccinations are up to date.

Hajj visas are issued exclusively for the pilgrimage season and cannot be used for tourism or Umrah. Key requirements include:

  1. A valid passport
  2. Proof of Mahram (for female pilgrims under 45)
  3. Completed Hajj package booking via Nusuk or an authorized travel agency
  4. Vaccination certificates (e.g., meningitis, COVID-19 if applicable)

Once your package is confirmed, your travel operator or Nusuk will initiate the visa process. Tourist or Umrah visas are not valid for Hajj.

Hajj spans five days (8th–12th Dhul Hijjah) and includes the following key rituals:

  1. Ihram: Entering the sacred state and making intention
  2. Tawaf: Circling the Kaaba seven times
  3. Sa’i: Walking between Safa and Marwah
  4. Standing at Arafat: The heart of Hajj, on the 9th Dhul Hijjah
  5. Muzdalifah: Collecting pebbles and spending the night
  6. Stoning the Jamarat: Symbolic rejection of evil
  7. Sacrifice: Offering an animal (usually arranged via your package)
  8. Final Tawaf: Farewell circumambulation of the Kaaba

Each step has spiritual significance and must be performed in the correct order.

Essentials to pack:

  1. Two sets of Ihram garments (for men); modest, breathable clothing for women
  2. Comfortable walking shoes or sandals
  3. Travel-size toiletries (unscented)
  4. Personal medications and first-aid kit
  5. Power bank, prayer mat, reusable water bottle

Prohibited items:

  1. Sharp objects (scissors, razors not for Ihram use)
  2. Perfumed products
  3. Political or religious literature not related to Hajj
  4. Drones or professional camera gear (unless permitted)

Keep your documents and ID with you at all times.

Saudi authorities prioritize pilgrim safety with medical centers, crowd control, and sanitation. To stay safe:

  1. Stay hydrated and avoid direct sun during peak hours
  2. Wear a hat or carry an umbrella
  3. Use hand sanitizer and wear a mask in crowded areas
  4. Follow group leaders and official instructions
  5. Know the location of your accommodation and emergency contacts

If you feel unwell, seek help immediately – medical services are free for pilgrims.
